Funke Akindele Defends Kamo State’s ‘Starlomo’ Amid Intense Online Backlash
Funke Akindele has silenced rumors of a rift with skitmaker-turned-actor Kamo State by publicly endorsing his new film, 'Starlomo.' The superstar actress, who missed the movie’s recent premiere due to travel, took to social media to urge fans to support the project in cinemas nationwide.
Kamo State had previously dismissed speculation of a fallout, confirming that Akindele’s absence was strictly due to her being out of the country. Supporting the film directed by Kayode Kasum, Akindele congratulated the team and cheered for their box-office success.
'Starlomo,' which hit cinemas on September 25, 2026, follows the journey of Ayotide, who returns home after a failed music career in Lagos to uncover his family's hidden musical legacy. The film features a stellar cast including Ibrahim Chatta, Abiola Adebayo, and Lateef Adedimeji, marking a significant milestone in Kamo State’s transition to feature filmmaking.

Uber Ends Ride-Hailing Operations In Nigeria After 12 Years
Global ride-hailing company Uber has officially wound down its ride-hailing operations in Nigeria, ending a 12-year presence in the country. The company’s exit took effect on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
Uber entered the Nigerian market in 2014, initially launching in Lagos before expanding its services to other major cities, including Abuja.
Its departure marks the end of an era for one of the platforms that helped transform urban transportation in Nigeria, introducing app-based ride booking, cashless payments and new earning opportunities for drivers.
The exit also comes amid mounting challenges in Nigeria’s ride-hailing sector, including rising vehicle maintenance and fuel costs, regulatory pressures and complaints from drivers over fare levels. Earlier this year, app-based transporters in Lagos and Ogun staged a shutdown over what they described as low fares and increasing operating costs.
Uber’s withdrawal from Nigeria comes at a time when the company is also undertaking a major global restructuring, including plans to cut about 10 per cent of its workforce.
For millions of Nigerians who have used the platform for work, airport transfers, everyday commuting and late-night journeys, the exit marks a significant change in the country’s evolving transport landscape.
After 12 years on Nigerian roads, the Uber era has officially come to an end.

Germany 2-1 Ghana: Undav rescues late victory in Stuttgart
Abdul Fatawu restored parity in the 70th minute after Kai Havertz's first-half penalty gave Germany the lead, but Undav was on hand late on to seal victory for Germany in Stuttgart and extend their unbeaten run.
Julian Nagelsmann's side dominated the first half, with Nick Woltemade firing wide in the fourth minute from Havertz's cutback before Florian Wirtz struck the post from a free-kick moments later.
Jonathan Tah squandered two opportunities from close range before Wirtz saw a goal ruled out for offside shortly after the half-hour mark, but Havertz ensured Germany would enter the break with the lead after scoring from the spot following handball from Jonas Adjetey.
Germany pushed for a second after half-time, with Woltemade heading Lennart Karl's cross onto the bar, and the hosts were made to pay for their wastefulness when Fatawu swept in from Derrick Kohn's low cross.
Nevertheless, Germany were not to be denied victory as second-half substitutes Leroy Sane and Undav combined in the 88th minute, with the latter poking in the winner in the stadium where he plays his club football.

BB Naija's Angel Smith Claims To Have Always Been 'Openly Queer'
Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Angel Smith, has fired back at critics, claiming that a failed relationship with her co-star, Soma, led her to become a lesbian.
The reality star, who recently tied the knot with her female partner, Tumininu, in a ceremony in the United States, took to social media to set the record straight. Addressing the narrative that she “gave up on men” due to heartbreak, Angel clarified that her sexual orientation has been consistent long before her time in the limelight.
Writing on X, she stated, “The concept of people being confused that a pansexual woman can love a man and also a woman is funny.” She further emphasised that her identity is independent of any male influence, adding, “I have been openly queer before AND after I went for that show. Please never attribute my greatness to a man; he could never have made me this cool.”
Angel also called out the perceived hypocrisy of some Nigerian men who expressed homophobic views online. She pointed out that many who shame queer women are the same individuals who request “threesomes” from their girlfriends involving other women.
To back her claims, the reality star shared screenshots of tweets she made as far back as 2021, proving she had identified as queer years before her rise to fame.

Jerry Eze Faces Backlash Over Reaction to Plateau Killings
Popular cleric Jerry Eze has come under criticism following his response to the recent killings in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North LGA of Plateau State, where over 30 people were reportedly killed by gunmen. In a post on X, the pastor offered prayers for the victims and called for the wickedness of the perpetrators to perish, expressing hope for divine intervention.
However, his reaction sparked mixed responses online, with some Nigerians questioning whether prayers alone are enough to address the recurring violence. While many acknowledged the importance of spiritual support, others argued that more practical and decisive actions are needed to tackle insecurity in the country.
@Admiral_Cyborg stated: "In the history of wicked people, their wickedness has never perished with them. Stop this nonsense and use your platform to hold the authorities responsible and let them be accountable. Stop being dramatic and stop using people's pain to cash out!"
@HonitelHQ shared: "Instead of you to call out the government with your full chest, look at what you are here doing. People lost their lives yesterday due to the incompetence of the government and of course, you are here praying. A prayer for Nigeria is useless. What we are facing is not spiritual. Enough of this!"
@camelaeto stated: "This thing pissed me clean off. Here again after watching a mom hold on to her dead son. She keeps blo*ing air to his face. In a miraculous world, that desperation, that grief should be enough to raise him. What exactly prevailed? Grief, rage, kakistocracy"
@Aynoniii wrote: "If there’s power in the name of Jesus, he would’ve stopped Owo massacre, now it’s Jos, No God is protecting anybody, wake up young and old fools"
